On 21 October the German Honorary Consul to St. Lucia, Mrs. Karen Cave, will give up her office which she has carried out faithfully for eleven years as she now wants to concentrate on her private life. Mrs. Cave is the widow of Mr. Lennox Alric Cave a distinguished St. Lucian who served as German Honorary Consul from 1987 until his untimely death after a heart attack in 1997. In a ceremony at the St. Lucia Golf and Country Club the German Ambassador, Dr. Ernst Martens, will present her with a document in which the German Foreign Minister is thanking her for her dedication and the service she has provided for so many years.

Immediately afterwards her successor, the new German Honorary Consul, Mrs. Karolin Troubetzkoy, will be sworn in by the Ambassador. The ceremony will be accompanied by a reception hosted by the Ambassador and his wife Christine Martens.

Mrs. Troubetzkoy is a German national who was born in the German city of Erlangen. After attending school there and obtaining the German Baccalaureate she studied at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. She was awarded a degree in Business Administration with majors in Tourism Marketing and Hotel and Restaurant Management. After a first exposure to the island during a practical semester in 1980 she moved to St. Lucia permanently in 1984 where she has been a resident ever since. Prior to joining her husband Nick Troubetzkoy at Anse Chastanet she was involved in a number of tourist projects on the island.

Mrs. Troubetzkoy was a consultant for the Organization of American States and in that capacity wrote tourism feasibility studies for the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, Pigeon Island, the Maria Islands and the Sulphur Springs.

In 1986 Mrs. Troubetzkoy became responsible for the marketing of Anse Chastanet and since 2006 the marketing of Jade Mountain.
